German independent power producer (IPP) Encavis has acquired a 26MWp solar park in Hockliffe, near Luton from Industria Brand Energy.

The acquisition accelerates the company’s strategic expansion of its solar power purchase agreement (PPA) solar park portfolio in the UK.

The solar park is ready for construction and will be connected to the grid in the first half of 2023.

The Hamburg-based company will start construction as soon as possible and will sign a PPA for the park once it has acquired a larger portfolio of solar parks in the UK, said chief investment officer at Encavis, Mario Schirru.

“Until then, we will market the electricity generated in the short term. This means that this project in Hockliffe is initially one of the 5% of sales that have not yet been priced,” added Schirru.

The IPP currently generates a capacity of nearly 3.3GW of renewables across 11 countries in Europe.
