Investment firm Equinox Energy Capital has announced that it has purchased the rights to a 19MW solar farm in Cumbria from Reading-based solar developer, Livos Energy.

The 30-hectare site in Aspatria is estimated to generate enough electricity to power 4,283 homes, negating the emission of more than 8,800 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Construction of the site is expected to begin shortly with the solar farm expected to be connected before April 2015 in order to qualify for 1.4ROCs. Equinox Energy Capital claims that the new acquisition takes its current solar portfolio under construction to 84MW as it works on two sites in Northamptonshire with a total capacity of 27MW, two sites in Oxfordshire with a total capacity of 24MW; and a 14MW site in Nottinghamshire.
