First Solar has become the latest solar module manufacturer to receive the UK Government's Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation. The certification, which is a prerequisite in order to sell PV systems in the UK under the feed-in tariff (FiT), has been awarded to the company’s thin-film Series 3 module range.
“The MCS is a key prerequisite to serving the UK market,” said TK Kallenbach, head of First Solar’s Components Business Group. “Installers and products that carry the MCS mark provide end-customers with assurance that their PV systems comply with rigorous international standards.”
The MCS is an internationally-recognised accreditation, which validates the quality and reliability of modules and other microgeneration technologies. Product certification involves type testing of products and an assessment of the manufacturing processes, materials, procedures and staff training.
