Adding to the ever-increasing number of large-scale solar parks in the UK, Gehrlicher Solar has completed the Langage Solar Park 5MW, located near Plymouth. Built on an area of 14 hectares the project is expected to produce 4.95 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy each year, providing solar power to approximately 1,400 households.
Dr. Tim P. Jungblut, Vice President of Commercial and Ground Mounted Systems at Gehrlicher Solar said, “We are pleased to have established a strong business partnership with Carlton Power who brings extensive experience in the field of power production. We can well imagine realising further PV projects together in the future.”
Gehrlicher installed a total of 21,252 Yingli modules and seven SMA inverters on site alongside a customised gabion mounting system.
Gerald Kumerle, Vice President of Technical and Ground Mounted Systems at Gehrlicher Solar said, “On the whole, we have installed 542 gabions and are very satisfied with the result. Due to the substructure [of the land] we were able to respond perfectly to the individual characteristics of the site. This solution is an excellent alternative to conventional pile driving and drilling.”
Gehrlicher Solar founded its UK-based subsidiary in March 2011. The business activity encompasses the construction of ground-mounted and roof-top systems as well as wholesale of photovoltaic components and systems.
