Global Heat Source has rebranded itself as Global Group to facilitate the incorporation of two new business streams that could supplement the likely loss of business resulting from the government’s reductions to the solar feed-in tariff.

As well as its solar energy division, the new Global Group brand will now offer a risk management service and solar panel maintenance in the wake of the government’s decision last week to reduce solar subsidy by around 65%.

According to Global Group many providers have already left the market, leaving homeowners with no on-going maintenance of their systems. The company says the launch of its new brand offering has been designed to fill this gap left by operators who were reliant on feed-in tariff income and subsequently forced out of the market.

The move is also likely to provide Global Group far more security in a market that is sure to see demand for solar installations fall.

James McLinden, who remains managing director of the Global Heat Source division, said: “We’ve obtained a good understanding of the business we want to be looking ahead and now have a new name and look which are reflective of our ambitions.

“The new brand and website makes an important commitment to our employees, clients and partners and sends a clear message that we are fully committed to getting people across the UK powered up with solar and that solar is here to stay.”

Global Group says the rebrand follows a period of significant growth in recent months, which have included the installation of solar panels on over 5,000 residential properties in Peterborough.
