Planners have given the go head to proposals for a 15MW solar farm at Glebe Farm near Bedford.

Edinburgh-based developer vento ludens’ plans for the development were green-lighted by Bedford Borough Council’s planning committee last week.

The plant will use over 65,000 PV modules and is expected to generate an energy yield of over 15,800MWh per year.

Vento ludens said it would continue to consult with the community ahead of the development breaking ground on the construction of environmental measures such as bird and bat boxes and new hedgerows.

Work will begin on the project in October and is slated for completion by April next year.
