The UK’s energy and climate change minister is to bang the drum for the booming UK solar industry ahead of next week’s Intersolar Europe exhibition.

Greg Barker MP will deliver the keynote address at Solar Media’s Doing Solar Business in the UK event in Munich on 18 June, the day before Intersolar Europe begins.

The half-day conference is aimed at prospective international investors in UK solar and will explore the financial, regulatory and policy conditions that have made the UK’s solar market one of the fastest growing and most attractive in the world.

Alongside the minister, the event will also hear presentations from James Beal, renewables specialist at UK Trade and Investment, who will discuss the UK’s ambitions to install 22GW of solar by 2020.

He will be joined by the UK Solar Trade Association’s PV specialist, Ray Noble, who will look at the opportunities and challenges created by the recent stabilisation of the policy framework underpinning solar in the UK.

The event will culminate in a panel discussion featuring some of the UK’s leading solar developers, including juwi’s UK managing director Jan Sisson, who will discuss the realities of building large-scale solar installations in the UK.
