London-based solar developer Hadstone Energy Limited is holding a public consultation over plans to develop a 9MW solar park in Watchfield, Somerset.
The company is seeking local views over its proposals before it submits a full planning application. The planned solar park will sit on 20 hectares of land at Pillmore Lane, Watchfield.
Emma Siddons, project manager for Hadstone, told Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News: “This public consultation will provide local stakeholders with the opportunity to review and discuss the proposals prior to submission to Sedgemoor District Council. Anyone is welcome to attend. Representatives of Hadstone Energy Limited and LDA Design Limited will be available to answer any questions, and there will also be opportunity to comment.”
The proposed solar park is the latest in a growing number of >5MW solar parks being developed under the Renewable Obligation despite the recent drop in available support earlier this month.
On 24-25 April, Solar Media will be holding a Large Scale Solar UK Conference which will discuss in detail the implications of the RO drop as well discussing topics such as solar park planning best practice. A full programme of events can be viewed here.
