A Hampshire-based secondary school has reduced its annual heating bills by installing a solar thermal system for its large swimming pool.
Hounsdown secondary school, which is known as an Eco School, contacted Southern Solar to design and install the system.
Four large TiSun panels, which were craned into position, work alongside the existing gas boiler to ensure that the pool’s water temperature is maintained at 28°C.
The solar thermal installation is also utilised as an educational tool as pupils can monitor and interact directly with the data produced by the system.
