Swansea-based Morgan Advanced Materials and Technology (AM&T) has installed a solar PV system as part of its drive to reduce the company’s overall consumption by 20 percent over the next 12 months.

The 250kW system, which was installed by Ikaros Solar, is expected to work towards AM&T’s environmental goals, lowering the carbon footprint and protecting the company against electricity price fluctuations in the future.

The site was recently opened by John Griffiths, Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development in Wales.

Wayne Griffiths Business Controller, Morgan AM&T, said: “The selection of the right supplier was critical in the success of this very high profile project, and Ikaros delivered. From the initial consultation through to the final sign off Ikaros have proved to be a valuable partner and despite very challenging time scales to gain the maximum FiT rates , the project completed on time and to budget.”

“We liked Ikaros approach not only their design but also taking a proactive role to gain ROOfit, DNO and supplying CAD drawings for our planning application without this advice, I am sure we wouldn’t have commissioned the system.”

Mike Carter, Commercial Director, Ikaros Solar Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have completed this important project in Wales and look forward to working with Morgan AM&T on their proposed extension. I have no doubt that the Ikaros group’s proven ability to deliver individual rooftop solar PV systems exceeding 3MWp was an important consideration for Morgan AM&T in their selection of us as their supplier and I am glad to see that we have delivered yet another project on time and to budget with the usual high level of customer satisfaction.”
