Solar developer Lark Energy has partnered with Armstrong Energy to develop and construct three solar farm projects totalling 30MW across Lincolnshire and Rutland.
The three solar farms are a 5.7MW development in Bourne, Lincolnshire; 14MW solar farm in Burton Pedwardine, Lincolnshire and a 9MW array at Hansen Cement’s Ketton Works in Rutland.
The 5.9MW project in Bourne was completed and commissioned before March 2013, in time to take advantage of the 2ROC. The other Lincolnshire project at Pedwardine is expected to be completed in November, with a further 4.4MW to be built out in 2014.
The 9MW project in Rutland will be built at Hanson’s Ketton Cement Works on brownfield land located there, with the majority of the energy produced by the array expected to be used directly by the cement works.
Commenting on the projects, Jonathan Selwyn, managing director of Lark Energy said: “These projects provide significant new clean energy capacity on the local electricity network. All three projects had the support of the local authority and the wider community. The Ketton project is notable for its brownfield location and significant on-site energy use.
“We remain optimistic about the long-term prospects for the UK’s large scale solar sector and these projects demonstrate Lark Energy’s comprehensive service offering from development through construction to long-term operation and maintenance of the plant.”
Steve Mahon, director of Armstrong Energy added: “These projects further demonstrate our ability to deliver energy infrastructure investments that provide inflation-proof income to investors. Our partnership with Lark Energy is a good example of our approach, which is to build long-term trusted relationships that repeatedly deliver value for all parties, be they suppliers or investors. We hold Lark Energy in the highest regard for the quality, honesty and pragmatism of their team.”
Lark Energy developed all three projects and will provide the EPC and O&M services for the solar farms. Armstrong Energy acquired the project rights and provided the finance for the three projects.
