Lightsource bp has finished construction of a 5MW solar PV project for food producer Saputo Dairy for its Davidstow creamery.
The solar project, located in Cornwall, includes a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) between both companies and will deliver 5307MWh of electricity per year.
Zosia Riesner, director of power markets Europe at Lightsource bp said corporations were an important “piece of the puzzle” in combating climate change.
“As governments continue to strengthen their sustainability policies and targets, our subsidy-free PPA solutions, and partnerships with corporations, are vital in helping governments achieve their net-zero ambitions.”
Tom Atherton, president and chief operating officer of Saputo Dairy UK, said the project will be able to deliver 10% of the creamery’s electricity consumption and the project was “a great example” of how the company aims to reduce its carbon footprint of its entire operations by 20% by 2025.
