MCS001 has now been updated and published as a revised version 2.0. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) has revised some of the paragraphs to better align common requirements and to help shed light on the intent of some of the clauses.

The most significant change has occurred in clause 8 where, “The certified company now has to ensure that they are dealing directly with the end client and ensure that everyone in the supply chain of any contract or leads has compiled with the relevant MCS requirements and any aspects of the consumer code that may be applicable.”

The alteration means that the certified company is now responsible for ensuring that any contracts or leads entered into have been obtained in strict accordance with the MCS standards and any requirements of the code.

All MCS certified installers are to implement the revised version from December 1, 2011 and will be subject to version 2.0 for their next surveillance visit.

Full details of the changes outlined by the revised version can be found on the MCS website.
