Having experienced the benefits of installing a 10kWp solar system, John Hurst decided to commission a second PV project to help power his poultry farms.
Having made the decision to install a 50kW system, John Hurst and Sons contracted Solen Energy UK to design and complete the installation on the Ormskirk, Merseyside-based farm.
Terry Hughes, Technical Manager at Solen Energy’s Liverpool-based office, said: “With recent material price reductions and the changes to planning permission requirements, we have seen a significant upturn in interest for Commercial and Agricultural businesses. Lower investment costs for larger systems have made Solar PV installations more of an attractive proposition.”
The poultry farm is now expected to generate approximately 46,000kWh of solar energy each year, while saving 27 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
