BayWa r.e. has selected Solarcentury’s Sunstation module as the first building integrated PV (BIPV) product it is to offer to the UK market.

The company said it was responding to growing demand from installers for more aesthetic solar products and Ian Draisey, managing director at BayWa r.e. Solar Systems, said there had been a “noticeable” increase in new build activity over the last 18 months.

“We have therefore been looking to partner with a reliable solar company so we can offer a fully roof integrated product to the UK market that meets the demands of the new build sector, as well as installers working in the retrofit and refurbishment market.

“Sunstation is a Tier 1 manufactured module and is an ideal fit within the BayWa r.e. portfolio of high quality products. We believe that the excellent aesthetics of Sunstation coupled with its simplicity and speed of install will be well received by our customers,” Draisey said.

Since its launch last year Sunstation, which is manufactured on behalf of Solarcentury by JA Solar, has picked up a number of accolades for its design and Solarcentury claims the BIPV solution can be installed in less than a day.

Frank Oldfield, head of sales, residential solar at Solarcentury, said BayWa r.e. was the “perfect” distribution partner.

“The company has a long established and reputable track record as a solar specialist and it is able to fulfil demand from installers around the UK. Their technical design expertise and high quality customer support are going to ensure that installers can select Sunstation with ease,” Oldfield added.

Sunstation will be available via BayWa r.e. from next month.
