Brighton NHS hospital has installed three solar arrays as part of the hospital’s recent refurbishment.

After working closely with the local planning office and the asset management team at Sussex Community NHS Trust, Solar Advanced Systems designed three systems totalling 50kWp that would sit on the south-facing roofs.

As the buildings are grade two listed buildings, the solar developer had to work closely with the sustainability team, the estates management team and the environments/energy team to provide a solar array that would still meet the requirements of the local planning authority.

The £100,000 project will help strengthen the hospital’s future revenue stream through the associated feed-in tariff payments while also benefitting from reduced utility expenditure by consuming the solar-generated electricity on-site.
