British solar thermal design and engineering company, Naked Energy, has announced a distribution partnership with Italian energy service company X3Energy.

The partnership will see X3Energy distribute Naked Energy’s solar thermal and photovoltaic thermal (PVT) products across Northern Italy. Aiding the country’s energy efficiency improvements and also supporting its target of 55% of electricity generation from renewable sources (including solar thermal) by 2030.

Naked Energy’s VirtuPVT, combines solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal technology to generate heat as well as electricity from a single source. The Virtu range of technology has been manufactured in Italy since 2018, with the manufacturer Jabil.

Also part of the Virtu range is the VirtuHOT, which generates solar heat and recently received the gold standard TÜV international certification, Naked Energy highlighted.

The company said that the new partnership with X3Energy will allow a number of industries to benefit from its technology by granting access to “cleaner, more efficient energy – in particular the provision of low cost, low carbon heat for manufacturing and other thermal processes.”

CEO and co-founder at Naked Energy, Christophe Williams commented on partnership saying: “Italy is entering a crucial stage of its move to renewable energy and heat generation. We are proud to announce this partnership with X3Energy who provide services to Italy’s superb manufacturing industries, incredible food producers and high quality hotels and leisure facilities.”

Naked Energy has repeatedly called for the renewable industry to accelerate its efforts to decarbonise heat.

In a recent statement Naked Energy warned that there isn’t “a hope in hell in net zero” if there isn’t a great focus on heat decarbonisation.
