Rexel partners Solarcentury to cater for ‘ever-increasing’ UK BIPV demand

Rexel has chosen to stock Solarcentury’s award winning Sunstation as their “product of choice” to cater for the UK’s built-in PV market.

Rexel said that an “ever-increasing demand nationwide” for an aesthetic BIPV product had triggered the distributor to partner with Solarcentury for the JA Solar-manufactured panels and the company would now be stocking them from next month.

John Lochrane, head of Rexel Energy Solutions, said the company had seen an increasing demand for BIPV modules, particularly in both new build and retrofit sectors.

“We had an exhaustive selection process. The questions being asked of BIPV [are] about reliability, performance, installation and whether the product is attractive. We can confidently say Sunstation answers all these questions,” he said.

Solarcentury first unveiled its Sunstation system back in April 2015, before formally launching the product to the market a year later.

Since then the company has been aiming to improve its reach. It was made available as a selection within Solarcentury’s solar-plus-storage partnership with furniture giant IKEA last year and added to BayWa r.e.’s wholesale outfit’s portfolio prior to the division’s closure last summer.
