Viridian Solar has signed a Group Supply Agreement with Avant Homes, which will run till 2024.

The housebuilder will use Clearline fusion roof-integrated solar panels as its exclusive solar product going forwards where there is a requirement for solar. This will include most new homes in Scotland, as well as those built under the 2021 Building Regulations that are set to come into force for new homes built in England soon.

“New building regulations and an increasing awareness of energy costs and sustainability from our homebuyers means that we expect to be installing far more solar panels on our homes,” Steven Cuthbertson, group commercial advisor at Avant Homes said.

“Our new partnership with Viridian Solar means we are taking control of the specification and ensuring the highest quality design for customers. With Viridian Solar now part of Marley and the Marshalls PLC group, this gave us even more confidence to move to a formal agreement. We believe this is the best way to simplify our supply chain and protect product availability.”

Marley acquired Viridian in April 2021, having initially started working with the company as a partnership in 2020. This has given it the “financial firepower” for further expansion, Viridian Solar CEO Stuart Elmes told Solar Power Portal at the time, including eyeing a number of further international markets such as the Netherlands.

The agreement with Avant follows Viridian Solar announcing last week that Bloor Homes had selected its ArcBox solar connector enclosure to be used in all its new houses. This built on the companies' previous partnerships, with their National Supply Agreement renewed in 2020 and set to run until 2023.

Additionally, it has also recently extended its partnership with housebuilder Bellway and with Persimmon Homes, and partnered with Beech Developments and Newland Homes, among others.

“It is a great endorsement of our quality and service that Avant has exclusively chosen Clearline fusion for its new homes,” said Jamie Berryman, chief sales officer at Viridian Solar.

“We ticked all the boxes required to become an exclusive partner for Avant Homes and now look forward to delivering beautiful and safe solar for years to come.”

Beyond builders, the company extended its partnership with VELUX in 2021, when it unveiled new roofing kits and launched new, larger solar modules, with the 335Wp and 340Wp modules marking a shift away from a 156mm cell size for the firm.
