The agricultural purchasing cooperative Woldmarsh Producers Ltd has invested in an 18kWp solar array for its office building in Louth.

Installed by Scenergy Ltd, the solar system is expected to produce around 15,500kWh of electricity negating the emission of 8.5 tonnes of CO2 in the process.

A spokesman from Scenergy said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to install Woldmarsh’s own Solar PV system and look forward to continuing to work with them to help deliver renewable energy projects to their members. The agricultural sector is a key area for the renewable energy market at present and we see a lot of potential benefit for farms who are investing in these technologies.”

Stuart McKenzie, CEO of Woldmarsh added “Solar PV was chosen as the most appropriate form of renewable energy for us due to our location and building configuration. Not only are we intending to cut the cost of our operation for the members, we can also minimize our carbon footprint and ensure that future electricity price rises are offset through generating our own.”
