Panasonic has announced the launch of its new HIT Black-Back Sheet solar photovoltaic module. The new panel boasts an eye-catching design that not only sports all black cells and back sheet, but also a full black frame. Panasonic hopes that the striking aesthetics will help the module appeal to those home owners more concerned with design.

The new module also benefits from a module efficiency of 18.6 percent with a cell conversion efficiency of 21.1 percent. Anti-reflection glass helps increase the energy absorption, while the three-tab design has been translated into a full black appearance, enlarging the effective area which Panasonic claims allows more sunlight to be captured and helps reduce electrical loss in the cell fingers.

A common problem found in all-black solar PV modules is the effect of heat absorption on yield. Panasonic’s new HIT N235B and N230B offer increased yields compared to other all-black modules due to the panels’ high temperature Pmax coefficient of 0.3 percent/oC.

The modules are fully approved by TÜV and MCS certificates, and have begun shipping this month. Panasonic are currently showcasing the new modules at this year’s Intersolar EU exhibition in Munich in hall A1, stand 170
