PassivSystems has agreed a contract with Freetricity to provide monitoring for the company’s latest £50 million ‘free solar’ campaign.

The deal agreed between PassivSystems and Freetricity will see the use of irradiance-adjusted solar PV monitoring by PassivSystems to evaluate what each system is generating, provide alerts of any intermittent faults as well as in depth analysis of the portfolio.

Commenting on the contract, PassivSystems CEO, Colin Calder, said: “The way people monitor their solar PV panels is the difference between an investment fully realised and an investment exposed to unnecessary risk. The monitoring service provided by PassivSystems will provide consumers with green, sustainable energy and go a long way in reducing rising energy bills. With the energy crisis looming, this partnership couldn’t have come at a better time.”

Freetricity’s latest solar campaign aspires to install 30MW of new solar capacity across the UK at no cost to customers. The company expects the campaign to create 500 new jobs in the industry with up to 1,500 installs a month.

Paul Williams, CEO of Freetricity spoke of the importance of free solar systems to the most vulnerable, he added: “With the constant increases in energy bills a free solar system enables householders to benefit from a reduction in their yearly energy bill of up to £500 per annum.”
