East Northamptonshire Council has approved the proposed Chelveston Renewable Energy Park which will be built at the former Chelveston airfield in Northamptonshire.
The application was submitted by Chelveston Renewable Energy Ltd which has already received approval for wind turbines, an anaerobic digestion plant and bio-oil electricity generators at the site.
The planned solar array will be equipped with 25,000 PV modules covering 10 hectares of land. When operational, it is expected to produce enough electricity to power more than 21,000 homes a year.
