PV Cycle UK has announced that it will be hosting a final round of solar PV webinars aimed at importers of solar ahead of new legal obligations coming into force on 1 January 2014.

The webinars have been designed to help companies understand the relevant elements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) legislation and identify how they can achieve legal compliance.

According to PV Cycle, key issues raised during the last round of webinars centred on the requirement that, in the New Year, all imports of PV panels are required to carry the cossed out wheely bin symbol and, secondly, the different regulations that apply for PV installed on domestic and non-domestic properties.

PV CYCLE country manager David Burton explained:  “Under the new WEEE regulations all UK importers are required to join a Producer Compliance Scheme and PV Cycle UK, a not-for-profit scheme established by the PV sector, is now assisting PV producers  through the process. Following a previous round of webinars there are now several companies who can claim that they are ‘WEEE compliant’, ahead of their competitors, and we now need to ensure that the whole sector is legally compliant for 1 January.”

The seminar sessions will be hosted on 11 and 17 December.
