REAL Consumer Code, the consumer code for the domestic renewable energy sector, has been renamed as the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) in order to “better describe the nature and purpose of the code”.
The decision to change the name was made so that it also reflects the fact that the code is one of several schemes operated by Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd (REAL).
The name change will not affect arrangements for administering the code which was set up by the Renewable Energy Association but administered by REAL.
REAL Consumer Code will be current and interchangeable with the new name of Renewable Energy Consumer Code for the remainder of this year. During this time, REAL, code members and stakeholders will update its materials to reflect the new name. Code members’ materials and certificates showing the old logo will remain valid for the rest of the year.
