The Department of Energy and Climate Change's solar forcasts have been heavily scrutinised in the past, but its estimate that just 11MW of solar was installed in February looks especially wide of the mark given the rush to comply with 1.3 ROC deadlines.

At least 8MW of residential solar was installed under the new FiT regime, and developers such as Lightsource, BayWa r.e. and Solarcentury have all been busily connecting sites in recent months. With such a patently inaccurate figure being released, should DECC be considering a major overhaul of how it compiles its data?
