Samil Power has become the first Chinese inverter manufacturer to register for the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive in the EU.
The company has targeted Europe’s two largest PV markets first by registering with the UK’s Environment Agency and the German Federal Environment Ministry’s electrical equipment register.
The applications apply to all the company’s River and SolarLake series plus associated monitoring and communications equipment.
The company said it hopes to announce registrations in France and Italy soon.
The inverter market is currently undergoing its own shakeout with new players stealing market share and consolidation continuing.
