Schneider Electric has supplied four of its PV Box power conversion substations to a 5MW solar power plant in Cobbs Cross, Bridgewater for Grupo Solaer.
The PV Box 'plug and play' conversion system is built around two Conext Core XC 680 Inverters with a DC combiner box, step-up transformer and MV/LV switchgear.
Commissioned in March this year, the solar power installation at Cobbs Cross will produce 5750-6000MWh per year of electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,400 tonnes annually.
According to Schneider, the Conext Core XC Series features a fast sweep maximum power point tracking algorithm, which enables it to be used in difficult environmental conditions. The inverter has up to 98.9% peak efficiency.
Juan Cuartero, Grupo Solaer head of business development, said: “The high quality of Schneider Electric products, our experience with them in the past and their flexibility to be able to use their inverters with limited power has been a key factor in the decision to choose the PV Box. It was really important for us to use a first class provider with worldwide service capabilities“.
Last week the company launched a version of the PV Box adapted to local standards for the Japanese market, with its use in projects in Hyogo prefecture in southern mainland Japan already announced.
