Chinese inverter manufacturer, GoodWe Power Supply Technology Co Ltd, has expressed support for the minister of state for energy and climate change Greg Barker, following his speech at Solar Energy UK.

GoodWe, which recently opened a UK office, said that it shared the minister’s ambitions for large rooftop solar to play a more important role in helping the sector hit his ambition of 20GW by 2020.

The company believes that, despite the feed-in tariff reduction in 2012, the UK’s support schemes for solar are more flexible and suitable for a growing market.

Commenting on Solar Energy UK, GoodWe said that the show helped form a platform for companies from across the globe to meet existing customers as well as develop new business. Specifically, the company feels that it has strengthened its position in the UK thanks to a new partnership with British distributors like Kent-based Ecolution Energy Services.

The company commented: “With UK-based distributors and localised services, we found it easy to establish customer and sales network in the UK. Moreover, the company is looking forward to seeing ‘the regulatory barrier’ be broken down, as the minister stated in his speech, not only for the UK but also for global solar manufacturers.”
