Solar Power Intl Ltd has recently commissioned a 96.6kWp solar photovoltaic system at Berryfields Farm near Coventry. By completing this project, the Dorset-based solar installer can now claim the largest Suntech PV installation in the UK to date.
After just 14 working days on site, the solar PV array consisting of 345 Suntech STP280 PV modules was fully installed, together with six SMA Sunny Tripower inverters. The 96.6kWp system is expected to deliver an average 86,000kWh of power to the farm per year.
The farm will now benefit from the feed-in tariff generation payment as well as on-site electricity savings, plus an export payment on every unit sent back to the National Grid. The system is also estimated to save 48 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
Berryfields Farm specialises in home reared and locally sourced food produce, some of which is sold through the Berryfields Farm shop on site. The site itself is largely dedicated to housing the farm’s prized sows and their offspring.
