Nominations for this year’s Solar Power Portal Awards, sponsored by Trina Solar, are currently open. Returning for its fourth consecutive year, the Solar Power Portal Awards will take place on 5 October during the Clean Energy Live exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC.

This year’s ceremony, sponsored by Trina Solar, will be co-located with the inaugural Clean Energy Awards, and no fewer than 19 trophies will be handed out during an evening hosted by stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr.

In the run up to the 30 June nominations deadline, Solar Power Portal is taking a closer look at each of this year’s categories.

Product innovation

The UK’s clean energy industry would not have been anywhere near as successful without the list of manufacturers committed to continually improving and innovating. Whether its cell efficiency, inverter reliability or sophisticated battery management algorithms, clean energy manufacturers are at the cutting edge of the global carbon transition.

This award will acknowledge examples of product development and innovation in the clean energy supply chain which has contributed towards greater efficiencies. Nominations should include both technical details of the product and how it has benefitted the industry.

Last year’s winner

Last year’s innovation award went to inverter manufacturer SolarEdge, whose StorEdge solution impressed the judges by offering an “all in one” domestic battery product to help further the nascent storage market.
