Renewable energy installer SolarTech Ltd has announced that it has secured over 25MW of solar farm contracts in the first four months of 2013.
The news comes after the UK was revealed as Europe’s largest utility-scale solar market in 2013.
Shaun Taylor, managing director of SolarTech explained why large-scale developments in the UK have experienced such a strong rate of growth. He said: “Ground mounted solar farms can be a strong additional income stream for any farming business, with a typical installation offering investors returns in excess of 10%, depending on the installation costs and location.”
Commenting on the future of the market, Taylor remained confident that the market will remain strong. “During 2013, we are looking to secure a further £50 million of solar farm contracts and are confident that we can offer farmers and land owners the best possible financial solutions tailored to their individual needs,” said Taylor.
After the EU announced that it would be imposing duties on Chinese-manufactured solar products, a number of solar developers have expressed concerns that the large-scale market could suffer should a negotiated settlement not be reached before higher duties are imposed on 6 August 2013.
