Solon and the Sustainable Building Envelope Centre (SBEC) have jointly developed a new rooftop solar solution consisting of the Solon SOLbond system combined with Tata Steel’s Colorcoat Prisma pre-finished steel range. By bringing these two products together, the companies address the growing demand for an intelligent building system combining photovoltaics and metal roofing.
Testing the new design a Solon certified team from Lester Fabrications & Cladding has installed a 12kWp system on the roof of the Sustainable Building Envelope Centre (SBEC) at Tata Steel’s Shotton site in North Wales.
“Our collaboration with SBEC opens up a totally new avenue for product development. Our shared focus is on increasing quality and durability,” said Stefan Säuberlich, Chief Executive Officer at Solon.
“The premium photovoltaic systems of Solon and the high-quality Colorcoat Prisma pre-finished steel roofing product complement each other perfectly,” said Peter Strikwerda, Managing Director at Tata Steel Colors.
The finished product is scheduled for release later this summer.
