After months of vacancy, the UK Solar Trade Association (STA) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer. Joining the Association as of last week, Paul Barwell has now been officially inaugurated in his new position.
The STA has also announced the resignation of Howard Johns as Chairman, who has stepped down after four years with the Association in order to concentrate on his own business and to spend time with his family.
“The arrival of our new CEO seems like a good moment to reset the STA, and I am sure you will see many changes over the coming few months,” explained Johns.
“It has been an amazing journey, with some huge challenges along the way. I would like to thank all those that have supported me in the role over that time, both the staff members at the NEF and REA, but also the board members who also give of their time freely to try to develop a more viable representation for the UK solar industry.
“The work is by no means over, we certainly have a long way to go, but for me it feels like the solar genie is now well and truly out of the bottle in the UK and it will not go back in easily – which is a huge step forward.”
A new Chair will be voted in by the STA board at its next meeting in April.
