The industrial gearbox and motor solutions manufacturer STM Power Transmissions has committed to cutting its carbon footprint after its headquarters in Winsford was fitted with a 28.5kWp solar PV array.
The company first investigated the use of solar after an energy audit revealed that STM Power Transmissions could produce enough electricity to cover the vast majority of the company’s requirements.
Each of the 109 mono-crystalline panels is equipped with its own Enphase microinverter to help boost the system’s efficiency. The solar installation is thought to be one of the largest commercial microinverter equipped solar arrays in the UK and a first in the north of England. The array was completed by Cheshire-based solar installer Brill Energy.
Commenting on the company’s new solar array, Andrew Ralston of STM Power Transmissions said: “We are now totally hooked on generating and saving money”.
