Two large-scale solar projects, Great North Road Solar Park and Botley West, have each passed individual goalposts in their journeys to beginning operations.

The second consultation phase has been completed for the Botley West Solar Farm in the west of Oxfordshire.

The Beacon Fen Energy Park, proposed by renewable energy company Low Carbon, has opened its plans for consultation from local stakeholders and communities.

The second consultation for the 840MW generation capacity Botley West solar farm is set to take place from 30 November 2023 to 8 February 2024.

In the UK, a new wave of large-scale solar projects continue to emerge as the country accelerates towards net zero targets, including reaching a decarbonised power system by 2035. At the heart of these are Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).

The 350MW Mallard Pass Solar Farm has now moved into the public consultation stage via pre-examinations after the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) accepted the project’s Development Consent Order (DCO).
