Solar technology distributor and systems integrator Wagner Solar UK has appointed a new UK Technical Manager, who will be responsible for managing the Solar PV and Solar Thermal technical division. Jan Stasik, who joins the UK branch from parent company Wagner & Co. will also lead the training programme at the company’s Wagner Academy solar training school.

Commenting on the appointment Wagner Solar UK Managing Director Carsten Pump said, “The solar market here in the UK, particularly for PV, is entering a turning point with the new FiT. Installers will need to rethink their business models and quality of service and installation will come to the forefront more now, than ever before.”

“We are fortunate to have Jan on board in the UK to help our installer clients with technical troubleshooting and guidance so they are constantly abreast of the best installation techniques. Many in our technical sales team have been trained by Jan so we are excited about the extra value he will bring to our UK operation and moreover the value we can bring collectively to the UK solar industry,” he continued.

“In these challenging times surrounding the Solar PV market, we must remain conscious of the other renewable technologies, particularly Solar Thermal. This technology provides the possibility to reduce energy costs whilst maintaining our environmental consciousness,” explained Stasik.

With rising energy prices – especially for heating – renewable technologies are expected to play a larger role in the UK's future energy mix. Stasik comments that solar thermal is an ideal technology for households to reduce their energy expenditure whilst also providing the possibility for solar PV installers to diversity their offering.

“As we move into 2012, we will expand our Solar Thermal business to encompass installer training, a comprehensive back office design service and onsite installer support,” he concluded.
