Solar Power Portal is delighted to announce the launch of the Solar Power Portal Awards.

Designed to recognise the very best in the UK solar sector, the awards will encompass all areas of the solar industry – from domestic-scale systems right up to utility-scale solar parks.

The awards will recognise and celebrate the good practice, professionalism, quality, safety and level of innovation that has catapulted the UK solar industry into one of the top five global PV markets.

Taking place at Solar Energy UK 2013, winning entrants will receive their awards at a prestigious presentation and gala dinner ceremony at the Hilton NEC, Birmingham on Tuesday 8 October.

Commenting on the launch of the awards, Solar Media’s publisher David Owen said: “The Solar Power Portal Awards represent a fantastic opportunity for the UK solar industry to come together and really celebrate its success.

“As the industry matures questions of quality are becoming paramount – I welcome the launch of the SPP awards as a way to not only recognise and reward best practice but to drive quality further.”

Rexel has been unveiled as the overall award ceromony sponsor and Jerry Hamilton, the company’s director of renewables, explained why the company was so keen to come onboard: “Rexel is very happy to be involved in the Solar Power Portal Awards.

“We don’t always have a fair chance to get together and look at the good things that we do as an industry. After the hard work involved in getting this industry going, the awards will allow us to get out there and focus on the good points.”

The awards will be judged by a panel of industry experts and leaders from the solar, renewable and business worlds. Judges will use pre-set criteria available here to ensure judging is unbiased and entrants can identify the suitability of their proposed category submission(s).

All in all, there are 11 award categories:
