Lark Energy has confirmed that it has set up a new company that will focus on commercial solar installations.
Lark Energy Commercial aims to build on the company’s previous experience in the commercial sector, having installed over 750 rooftop arrays. Lark claims that the new company will also benefit from new sales, design and construction professionals who have completed more than 30MW for blue-chip clients.
Commenting on the company’s renewed focus on the commercial market, Jonathan Selwyn managing director of Lark Energy said that the company has been traditionally known for its solar farm prowess, not its commercial rooftop record. Selwyn explained: “The company is less well known, however, for its growing commercial rooftop and smaller ground-mount business. This is why we are now establishing a new company, one which can focus fully on this exciting market. The future for the commercial rooftop market is rosy and we are determined to be a leading player in the market and to that end we will be announcing some exciting initiatives in the coming weeks”.
Selwyn will lead the company’s new division, with Lark Energy Commercial operating out of four new offices located in London, Solihull, Peterborough and Edinburgh.
The government has identified the commercial rooftop sector as its main priority following the publication on the National Solar Strategy. Ministers have promised to put “rocket-boosters” under the struggling sector but so far have only introduced proposals to extend permitted development up to 1MW and plans to allow PV owners to move an array to another building and continue receiving feed-in tariff payments.
