Solar Media is delighted to announce that it has received a record number of nominations for this year’s Solar Power Portal Awards.
The nominations window closed earlier this week and, following a frantic flurry of submissions from developers, installers, manufacturers and financiers alike, nominations were up nearly 10% on last year’s total.
Of particular interest to nominees was the energy storage category which received a significant number of submissions from companies both domestic and international.
To this end, Solar Media has taken the decision to split the storage category in two. There will now be a ‘Residential, Commercial and Industrial Storage Project’ category and a ‘Utility-scale Storage Project’ category, a split which we feel best represents nominations and the UK’s storage industry.
People to have submitted nominations for the storage category do not have to resubmit any details, these nominations will be separated into their appropriate categories automatically.
Liam Stoker, UK editor at Solar Media, said: “It’s great to see so many fantastic and interesting projects highlighted across the board this year, and to receive so many nominations is an incredibly positive indicator for an industry that is rebounding and continuing to thrive. With reports of full order books, the new build and housing association sectors showing huge interest and web traffic across our domains up year-on-year, there are positive signs for the UK solar industry at present.
“We’ve been monitoring the burgeoning storage sector closely and were always confident that the storage project category would be hotly competitive, but to receive so many nominations is a real testament to the tangible, material development of what’s becoming a key strategic industry for the UK.”
This year’s Solar Power Portal Awards will once again take place during our annual October show at Birmingham’s NEC. Solar and Storage Live takes place between 4 and 6 October 2017 and will assemble thousands of visitors from the domestic, European and worldwide solar, storage and associated clean technology industries.
