Sharp Solar has completed the installation of 3,000 solar arrays across Wrexham, in one of the largest council-led solar schemes in the UK. The £15 million project will see Wrexham become the country’s top authority for reducing carbon emissions and in the top ten percentile in the UK.

Following the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s (DECC) awarding of a £7 million loan to the Green deal Finance Company, a host of solar companies have come forward to announce their involvement in the scheme. 

The University of West England (UWE) has installed over 80kWp of solar across its Frenchay Campus in its quest to halve the university’s carbon emissions by 2021.

In a bid to ensure the UK Government provides clear and consistent leadership on renewable energy a host of signatories, lead by the Renewable Energy Association (REA), have written to the Prime Minister, David Cameron and Deputy PM, Nick Clegg asking that the Treasury actively supports departments charged with meeting the legally-binding renewable energy targets, and delivering green growth and jobs.

As part of Government’s plans to improve the energy efficiency of UK housing stock the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) will re-open the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) social landlords competition. During the first funding round, which was open from 28 May 2012 to 4 July 2012, 72 projects were allocated money.

Rent-a-roof solar installer A Shade Greener has signed an agreement with manufacturer JA Solar Holdings for the supply of 47MW of solar panels. The deal reinforces the company’s commitment to the UK solar market after months of feed-in tariff uncertainty.

In a bid to improve operations within the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) the Minister of State for Energy, Charles Hendry, has announced his intention to scrap 86 of the Department’s regulations while improving 48 regulatory regimes.

A £7m loan from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to The Green Deal Finance Company (TGDFC) has been agreed today, coinciding with the opening of the register for Green Deal Providers, Assessors and Installers.

South West retailer, Mole Valley Farmers (MVF), has installed solar arrays on six of its nine stores across the region. In partnership with local installer, Source Renewable, 180kWp of solar capacity was installed on MVF’s suitable store estate.

Stow-based solar specialist, Freewatt has announced plans to add another 8,300 solar modules to its 1.14MW solar development at its Danes Farm development.
