Northumbria University has developed a formula to help predict the impact electric vehicles (EV) will have on the national grid. The Premier Inn has embraced solar photovoltaic technology, installing arrays at ten Premier Inn hotels across the South of England. Whitbread, Premier Inn’s parent company hopes that its solar initiative will help it realise its ambition of achieving a 26 percent reduction in its carbon emissions be 2020.

Welshpool-based Organic Energy and 7 Energy of Shrewsbury have come together to complete a 225kWp solar project. The scheme, which utilised an investment of £1.2 million, saw more than 2,300 panels installed in Shropshire and Mid Wales, including a ground mounted array of 1,200 panels at Comberton Poultry Farm in Ludlow.

According to the latest research from YouGov, 71 percent of UK consumers are concerned about where their energy is sourced. The data, which was released today by 100 percent renewable electricity provider Good Energy, is based on responses from 2,100 adults in February 2012.
