Brighton Energy Co-operative is set to a launch a pioneering project that will see local residents invest in a community-owned solar array. A poultry farm in Lincolnshire has had a 140kWp solar array installed to help the farm slash running costs and carbon consumption. The install saw CTS Solar add an additional 580 modules and 8 inverters to an existing 50kWp array.

Solarcentury has announced the appointment of Frans van den Heuvel as its new CEO. Van den Heuvel was previously CEO of Dutch solar PV company Scheuten Solar and ProxEnergy, a solar installation company and developer of smart-gird products and services. The Dutchman has over 13 years of industry experience, specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of solar for buildings and solar parks.

Saint Matthias Evangelical parish church in Plymouth has had a solar PV array installed on its historic roof. The solar system was installed by Exeter-based SunGift Solar and is set to save the church hundreds of pounds a year on electricity bills whilst significantly lowering its carbon footprint.

Ofgem has announced that it will be requiring industry to develop changes to the current transmission charging approach. The energy watchdog has warned that it needs to implement a new transmission charging structure to better reflect the “costs placed on the system by all forms of generation, particularly renewable generators, which operate intermittently.”
