Renewable energy project developer TGC Renewables has secured planning approval for an 8MW solar park to be built in the southwest.

Canadian Solar has signed an agreement with Edmundson Electrical that will see the latter act as authorised reseller for Canadian Solar’s modules for distribution in the UK. Edmundson Electrical, a distributor of electrical equipment to trade and industry in the UK, will now include Canadian Solar’s solar module range in its product offerings to UK installers.

Strategic Energy is set to install 1,000 PV panels on Hafod Housing Association properties under a newly signed agreement. The South Wales-based association has commissioned the work as part of its drive to bring social benefits to its communities.

Twelve months on since operations began at Westmill Solar Farm Cooperative, near Swindon, Government Minister for Culture, Communication and Creative Industries Ed Vaizy officially launched a share offer to invest in the development. Eco Environments has been selected by Wigan-based Armstrong Point to install a range of renewable energy technologies at the UK’s first zero energy-cost business park. The £2.7 million development will include the installation of 90kWp of solar PV, a 6kW wind turbine, nine solar thermal hot water systems and nine heat pumps.

Plans have emerged this week for a 30MW solar farm, intended to be developed on a former RAF airfield in Suffolk. The site, which spans 150-acres, could power the equivalent of 7,000 homes for a full year if permission is granted.

Enevis, in partnership with the Apollo Group, has completed one of the largest multi-installation solar projects in London. After being awarded the contract in January this year the company managed to install a total of 500 systems in Walthamstow in a space of just three months.

Adding to the recent influx of positive solar news Lark Energy has today announced that it has installed a total of 15MW of solar panels across the East of England and East Midlands in a combination of rooftop and solar farm projects. To date the company has installed approximately 65,000 photovoltaic panels which in total generate enough electricity to power 4,000 households.
