A total of 2.1GW new renewable generation capacity has come online since Q2 2023, representing a 3.9% increase over the last year, according to data published by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

Last year, renewable capacity additions were up by 45% globally to almost 280GW, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Solar Energy UK has named Matt Black, non-executive director at UK-based greentech startup Solivus as its new chairman. Solar is expected to account for 60% of new renewable capacity additions by 2025 as it records stable growth in 2020.
