Centrica and the UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB) have backed Highview Power with a £300 million investment. The funding will enable the liquid air energy storage firm to start building its first large-scale project.

The UK Infrastructure Bank plans to invest up to £265 million in energy storage development in partnership with British Gas owner Centrica Plc.

Investment manager NextEnergy Capital (NEC) has launched a £500 million subsidy-free solar fund, with up to £250 million to come from the UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB).
