Battery storage is making renewables more viable for Scottish Water, the company has said following the installation of Invinity Energy Systems’ vanadium flow batteries.

A 5MWh flow battery system installed as part of the Energy Superhub Oxford has been energised by Invinity Energy Systems alongside EDF-owned Pivot Power.

Work has started on Scottish Water’s latest solar installation, which is also set to include Invinity Energy Systems’ vanadium flow batteries.

Vanadium redox flow battery company redT has officially rebranded to Invinity Energy Systems following its merger with Avalon, the change now approved by shareholders.

RedT’s merger with US storage firm Avalon continues to progress, with the transaction set to be completed around the end of March 2020.
