The Department for Energy and Climate Change has confirmed that the UK’s next Contracts for Difference allocation round will start on 21 October this year and finish next March.
Secretary of state for Energy and Climate Change Ed Davey made the announcement during yesterday’s Building Britain event organised by think tank Policy Exchange, and it was later confirmed on DECC’s Twitter page.

Davey also said the first capacity market was regarded as a “huge success” with many projects ending up at a “lower price than expected”.
The dates are broadly similar to the first round which started on 14 October last year and concluded last month, with five solar projects winning a share of the allocated budget.
