This award, sponsored by SunEdison, recognises one company’s commitment to ensure that the myriad benefits of solar are shared across the whole local community. The judges are looking for the project which has delivered the biggest impact on a community be it from a community group itself or the efforts of a private sector player to spread the rewards of their work to the wider locality.
Solar Power Portal is delighted to announce the shortlist for the Community Benefit category at this year’s Solar Power Portal Awards.
The huge rise of solar farm developments in the UK has meant that the community aspect of proposals have gained more weighting with decision makers. Thankfully, the UK solar industry has been very engaged with the importance of involving local communities with potential projects from the beginning.
All of the shortlisted projects have demonstrated exceptional ingenuity and delivery in ensuring that the local community benefits fully from a solar farm.
