Chinese PV manufacturer Suntech will debut its latest financial offering at Solar Energy UK (SEUK) following a partnership with German-based youmex group.

The partnership will see the companies offer to finance solar farm projects in the UK that use Suntech as its exclusive PV panel supplier.

Solar Power Portal's sister site, PV Tech, reported in early May that Suntech’s parent company Shunfeng and its partner Greenfield Solar International are targeting 900MW of UK solar by the end of 2015. The two companies are seeking to build the solar farms exclusively using panels by Chinese manufacturer Suntech, which has been owned by Shunfeng Photovoltaic since April 2014.

Steve Gladman, UK director at Suntech explained: “Through this partnership, Suntech and Shunfeng will be able to offer enhanced services to our UK customers in line with our strategy to become a one-stop shop for all solar needs.”

The government recently confirmed that it would remove all support for solar farms over 5MW under the renewable obligation (RO) from April 2015. Amber Rudd, the minister for energy and climate change will address attendees at SEUK on how UK policy support will help the solar industry move away from subsidy.

Youmex, headquartered in Germany, provides corporate and project financing for investment in real estate, infrastructure and capital markets, in addition to providing financial services for clean energy projects.

Eric Luo, CEO of Suntech added that he believed the new alliance would “serve as another catalyst for growth in the UK solar market”.

The company will be exhibiting at stand D20 at SEUK where members of staff will be on hand to talk about the company’s range of PV modules as well as its new finance offering.
